Sweet Success

Last fall I made my first attempt at seed saving, letting the last few edamame pods dry on the bean stalks before harvesting the dried beans and safely tucking them away for planting this spring.  The moment of truth came last week when the ground started to heave in a nice row where I had carefully and hopefully planted most of my saved edamame beans.  By the weekend, that nice row was full of bright green sprouts, and even better, there appear to be no missed spots in the row, which means 100 percent germination rate!  Yep, I'm pretty much feeling like a seed-saving rock star.  Bring on the heirloom tomatoes!
