Something caught my eye while I was picking raspberries this weekend. Upon closer inspection, I found this little, lone, almost-ripe strawberry growing in the "fruit garden" (as my husband likes to call it). It has been weeks since I hunted and pecked for the last of this year's strawberries, so to find this late producer was a definitely a surprise. It was only one bite's worth of summer sweetness, but there was a whole lot of intense strawberry flavor to savor in that one little bite. Reason #5,632 why growing food in your backyard is worth the effort!
