Sounds of Summer

You know it's the middle of summer in Minnesota when you hear the buzz of the Cicada from high in the tree tops.  I was checking out my gardens on Sunday night when this little guy made some noise in the grass and got my attention.  I'm not sure what he was doing so far from his tree, but he was content to let me take his photo on his way.  Even to this day the sound of the "Mankato Bug" (as my grandmother tells me I used to call them) is a warm and familiar sound that makes me think of all the best things about summer, like county fairs and lazy afternoons.  This sound has been the soundtrack to most of my gardening memories as well.  Who knew someone with a face like this could be so nostalgic, huh?
