Yesterday was the first day of winter and the beginning of my Christmas vacation. After spending the morning volunteering with the holiday assistance program at our local food shelf, I took the camera and went for a nice long afternoon walk. It was cold, but there was just enough December sunlight to make for some beautiful winter moments, even without any snow yet. In fact, I think the lack of snow captures the beauty of winter hibernation even better than a fresh coating of snow ever could.
